2018 - We opened Amelie - the first restaurant in the UK dedicated to Flammekueche and to make it easy to say, we coined the term Skinny Pizza! With articles in national press such as the Telegraph Magazine, Hello Magazine, and consecutive runner up awards for “Best Cheap Eats UK” from The Observer, the Skinny Pizza’s reputation as a delicious fast food is growing across the UK.
2020 - Lockdown resulted in temporary restaurant closures and a new demand for meal kits emerged. Amelie quickly started delivering kits nationwide. With praise for the unique bases by the Observer’s Jay Rayner, regulars quickly started ordering dozens of bases for their home on a weekly basis; it was simpler to cook for the whole family, it was also the healthier alternative to supermarket equivalents. The flammekueche base is the business model; it requires minimal training, is ready to use and its quality is consistently maintained thus eliminating ongoing issues within the industry of finding experienced staff, training staff and price increases of raw materials.
2022 - Restaurants and pubs started to show interest in the flatbread prompting Alex & Regis to create Amelie Distribution Ltd. Amelie Distribution holds partnership and exclusive import rights with the global leader in its market which produces over 200 million bases per year.
Today - Amelie Distribution expands its ‘flammekueche flatbread’ working alongside companies who are already familiar with the product or willing to introduce it to their menu. We work with a plug and play method helping keep delete their clients’ overheads to a minimum. If any team needs training, we’ll travel across the UK to offer support and ensure that you enjoy the product just as much as we do!
